GSK to Halt Payments to Physicians to Promote Its Products

GlaxoSmithKline is the first drug company to announce it is ceasing the practice of paying doctors to promote its products.

Acknowledging that society is troubled by financial relationships between doctors and the industry, research chief Patrick Vallance said “It creates problems for patients in society to know what’s right and what’s not right. It creates potential problems for doctors and it creates problems for industry.”
