Is a new form of eugenics awaiting those of us lucky to make it to 75 years old?
Bioethicist Ezekiel Emanuel, a proponent of Obamacare, is taking the concept of cost-benefit analysis and the law of diminishing returns to what I believe is a new low. Under the theory that most of us will have lived “a complete life,” he thinks that little, if any, resources should be available to our senior citizens. Hmmm, just like an old car or milk with an expiration date: turn it in after a certain number of years to make room for a new one.

Under Obamacare, the Doctor-Patient Relationship Goes on Life-Support
Is the doctor-patient relationship soon to die under the Affordable Care Act? Jordan Grumet, MD writes that under the consolidation demanded by the ACA, “Physicians answer first to their hospital system, next to their electronic medical record, and then comes the government.” The patient is on the chopping blog, with less input and choice, all in the interests of cost-savings.

Gilead Sciences’ Sovaldi Could Cause VA to Choke on Its Pill
I think the biggest fan of Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare and the Veterans Administration must be Pharma. Knowing the government will pay with little question or opposition, some of these pharmaceutical companies are redefining the meaning of “price gouging” – even when they reduce prices. Unfortunately, like viruses that kill their hosts, only to die from doing so, this may backfire on the drug companies in the long run.
The drug is Sovaldi and it is manufactured by Gilead Sciences.
